The Mental Health Foundation (MHF) provides services to individuals who suffer from mental health problems whether mild, moderate or more severe and long lasting. Clients must be referred by their general practitioner should they or their family suspect mental ill-health. The MHF provides the following services: psychiatric evaluations and diagnosing, counselling, prescriptions, psychotherapy, psycho-education, psychological testing for children and adults, mentoring support, independent living program, crisis intervention, emergency services, inpatient care and family guidance. The care is provided by psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, social psychiatric nurses, registered nurses, psychiatric aides and other mental health professionals.

In addition to their care services, the Mental Health Foundation stimulates prevention by increasing awareness and encouraging early detection of psychiatric illnesses by disseminating information from the Foundation to the community through the care product Information, Prevention and Knowledge Center. More information about upcoming meetings, conferences and other activities can be found on the foundation’s website at www.mhf-sxm.com.
